SUNDAY 02/28/10
Woke up to another beautiful day. Ran to the grocery store (never again on a Sunday afternoon – way too crowded to make a “quick run”) and then looked at another apartment in my neighborhood. It ended up being a dump and just solidified my decision to live with the 38-year-old travel agent! I absolutely had to get outside, so I called up Tara, and we headed to the Bosques de Palermo.
There were families and groups of friends all around just enjoying the summer Sunday! We sat and watched some kids playing futbol and a man riding on a bike with 3 dogs in his front basket. After a while, all we could think about was choripan (a sandwich of chorizo sausage and chimichurri sauce – parsley, garlic and olive oil) – so we headed to the nearest street vendor. So delicious!
As we walked around the park, we came upon some tightrope walkers and plopped down to watch their physical dexterity.
Accompanying them were jugglers. On the street in front of us, some people had set up a slalom rollerblade course, a set of clowns walked by, and people were taking it easy in the “lake” in paddle boats and row boats. Many bicycles for 4 or 6 people passed us as kids covered their faces with cotton candy and ran for the ice cream truck. It was just an illustration of the traditional family values that are nourished here.
Headed home after taking a little nap in the grass and had some leftover pasta that Tyrone had made. Started watching my first movie since being here (a testament to how busy I’ve been…since I tend to watch a movie or two per week).
