Strikers delay arrival by 2 hours

We were on schedule to arrive at the Retiro bus station in Buenos Aires right on time...until we were about 3 miles away.  The freeway was closed off and forced us to go to the city streets.  We were stuck in complete gridlock, moving about 3 feet per hour.

As we were finally in sight of the train station, the picketers became evident, they let us pass, and it was smooth sailing for the last half block.  My cab driver explained to me that police don’t break up picket lines any more.  In the past, there were some charges of police brutality and now, they’re afraid of getting fired if they upset the strikers.  Welcome back to Buenos Aires!
