JUJUY: La Garganta del Diablo

TUESDAY 01/04/11

I decided to get a bit more nature in, so Mariana, Andres and I hiked to the Garganta del Diablo and a small cascade.  It felt wonderful to be in the fresh air one last time!

returning to the pueblo

I made my way back to the hostel, led by a fellow companion.

I showered, packed up, ate a wonderful lunch of quinoa salad and took the bus to Salta.

The Dakar Rally was heading from Tucumán to Jujuy the same day that I was traveling and we were forced to take the back way to Salta.  It took about two hours longer – partially due to the route and partially due to all of the spectators who had come out to watch and lined the road from San Salvador de Jujuy to Salta.

One more night in Salta then it was the 20 hour bus ride home.

  1. What a rugged and beautiful place. Reminds me of home in the Rockies, but it's not quite the same.
